What/who is Five Flute for? A note from our founder William Burke

Hi there! This is William Burke, I’m the cofounder and CEO of Five Flute. More importantly, I’m a career mechanical engineer that has developed a wide variety of products - from rowing machines to rockets. With Five Flute, I’m building the collaboration tool that I always wanted when I was working in product development every day.

If you are an engineer that designs parts and assemblies, a manufacturer working with engineers, or anyone else peripherally involved in the hardware product development process in ANY way, Five Flute is built to help you communicate more effectively throughout development.

Five Flute is a collaboration platform that keeps track of all your design conversations. It helps in 3 key ways.

1. Data access: Five Flute lets you share 2d/3D CAD with anyone inside or outside your company.
2. Communication and issue tracking: Five Flute has simple but powerful tools that let you have a rich design conversation on top of CAD. No more screenshots and emailing powerpoint decks back and forth.
3. Design history capture: When your team uses Five Flute for design review, you end up with a clear record of every issue, who was responsible, and what was done to fix it. It sounds simple, but a clear design history is incredibly powerful in any project of moderate complexity or duration.

Personal workspaces in Five Flute are designed to give you an easy way to share 2D/3D CAD and to capture feedback on your designs from anyone. Personal workspaces give you access to all of Five Flute’s basic review functionality. You can…

• Upload PDF drawings and 3D CAD files (see supported file types )
• Add feedback to drawings and models using markup. Here’s how markup works in drawing reviews and 3D reviews respectively.
• Share drawing reviews and 3D reviews with anyone.
